Introduction

The ES2P PDU supports SNMPv3 for secure communication with network management systems (NMS). This article describes the supported SNMPv3 passphrase length.
 

Purpose

To provide information on the supported SNMPv3 authentication and privacy passphrase length for the ES2P PDU.

 

Requirements

  • ES2P PDU running the latest available firmware version
  • SNMPv3 enabled
  • SNMP Manager, Network Management System (NMS), or DCIM tool.
  • The ES2P PDU is reachable and responds to SNMP queries
 

Supported Passphrase Length

 

The ES2P PDU supports SNMPv3 authentication and privacy passphrases of up to 16 characters. Characters beyond the 16th position are silently truncated and not retained by the device. Therefore, authentication fails if the NMS or DCIM is configured to use passphrases longer than 16 characters.


Additionally, SNMPv3 authentication and privacy passphrases fields appearing blank after saving is expected behaviour.
