Introduction

This article explains the procedure to connect a laptop to successfully browse to a PDU without a DHCP assigned IP Address.

Purpose

When connecting to a PDU within a daisy chain without an assigned IP Address to allow browsing to access the WebUI

Requirements

  • Laptop or PC with Ethernet port to connect
    • May require USB to Ethernet adapter as shown within this document
  • Ethernet cable
  • Instructions for upgrading each of the above devices are available in the product user guides available under downloads upon the Panduit Support Downloads webpage.

Procedure

  1. With no Ethernet cable attached to the Network Control Module, there will be no IP Address assigned

  1. Configure your PC/Laptop Ethernet adapter IP Address to 192.168.0.2 with the gateway 255.255.255.0
    1. If your laptop does not include an Ethernet port, you will require an alternate method to connect, like this USB/Ethernet adapter
  1. Connect the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet/PDU In port on the PDU Network controller
  2. After a short period of time, the device will assign itself the IP Address 192.168.0.1

  1. With an IP Address now assigned, browse to the PDU using https://192.168.0.1 and log onto the PDU with complete access to the Web User Interface
  2. Make all configuration changes necessary and logout of the PDU
  3. Connect the PDU to your network and verify browser access through your intra-network connectivity
