Introduction

UPS Alarm indicated and displayed error code 41 specifically, though this is only one of several for the 1 to 3 kVa UPS. Missing is the detail explaining the error code purpose and the purpose of this document.
Code 41 generally alerts the user when the input parameters make the Bypass state unavailable.

Purpose

There is a description of the error code but not a clear reference to what this means. This document will identify this error code and identify its cause and location.

For these 1 to 3 kVa UPS units, there are two Bypass threshold settings that are user configurable: Bypass High Voltage (bHV) and Bypass Low Voltage (bLV) in the settings menu.

These configurations set a threshold for when the user would *not* want the UPS to be able to enter the bypass state. (Generally to protect sensitive equipment where unregulated voltage may cause interruption or damage.)
bHV – the upper threshold
bLV – the lower threshold

Procedure

  1. Above is the table of Error Codes for the 1 to 3kVA user manual. To help better understand the error, we must first identify why the bypass is not available is.
    1. Upon the oLED screen on the face of the UPS,
      1. The UPS will show alarm and note the error code upon the screen
      2. Also noted are the values assigned for this setting

    1. Accessing the setup Operation
      1. One must intentionally get into the Setup Operation mode by a sequence of function button operations. Press and hold the UP and DOWN buttons at the same time until the unit Setup page appears. Once in the Setup Operation mode, use the UP or DOWN button to scroll through those pages

      1. Scroll to the desired Setup page that needs to be altered, by pressing the UP or DOWN button
      2. The Setup page number appears in the center brackets on the Setup pages. For this instance, 07 for Bypass Voltage Upper limit setting

      1. Scroll through the Setup values, by pressing the UP or DOWN button. When the desired Setup value is present, press the ENTER button to lock in that value
      2. The default Bypass Voltage Upper Limit setting is 132Vac for North American UPS units and 264Vac for European UPS units. These values may be changed in 1Vac increments/decrements. This value should be set to the maximum voltage that the connected loads will tolerate. Decreasing this voltage may limit the UPS from switching to bypass (when the input voltage is high)
      1. The Lower Limit setting is 08 below
      1. The default Bypass Voltage Lower Limit setting is 80Vac for North American UPS units and 176Vac for European UPS units. These values may be changed in 1Vac increments/decrements. This value should be set to the minimum voltage that the connected loads will tolerate. Increasing this voltage may limit the UPS from switching to bypass (when the input voltage is low)
      2. When the desired Setup value is present, press the ENTER button to lock in that value
      3. Using the DOWN button to transition out of the last Setup page will automatically save any settings changed during the Setup Operation mode session and transition back to the Monitor Operation mode
      4. Verify your alarm has cleared with these revisions.

Note: Pressing the CANCEL button at any time while in the Setup Operation mode will
automatically close and not save any Setup value changes.
