How to obtain UPS IP address via Wi-Fi for first time access to the web GUI

Introduction (H2)

This article provides a step-by-step guide for obtaining the IP address of a Panduit Intelligent Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Network Management Card (NMC) via Wi-Fi, specifically using the Wi-Fi Direct Connect method.

 

Purpose (H2)

The purpose of this Knowledge Base article is to help technicians easily discover the IP address of UPS via Wi-Fi (Direct Connect) for the first time. By following this guide, users can quickly connect to the NMC's Web GUI, log in, and retrieve important network information such as the assigned Ethernet IP address, or configure the device’s Wi-Fi settings. This solution is ideal when Ethernet or DHCP is not available for the NMC’s initial setup or troubleshooting.

Requirements (H2)

  • Physical access to the UPS NMC
  • Smartphone/tablet or laptop with Wi-Fi.
  • Web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari are supported)
 

 

Procedure (H2)

  1. Start Direct Connect (on-demand): Briefly push and quickly release the small reset button on the back of the NMC. The green LED will flash while Wi-Fi Direct Connect is active.
  2. Join the NMC Wi-Fi from your device. 
    SSID format: Panduit-ups-nmc-<MAC>
    Default Wi-Fi password: adminadmin
    Direct Connect is available for 10 minutes by default when on-demand is started.
     
  3. Open a browser and access the UPS GUI page by browsing to: https://192.168.5.1
  4. Handle browser certificate warning (first connection): The UPS NMC uses a self-signed certificate by default so your browser may prompt a warning — proceed using Advanced / Continue.
  5. Log in to the Web GUI using username: admin, password: admin. You will be prompted to change the password on first login.
  6. Find the assigned Ethernet IP address. Click the gear icon and navigate to ‘Network Settings’.
  7. At this point, you can now change the IP address and configure the UPS according to your preferred settings.
