How to change the Smartzone Reports service account Password

Introduction

Smartzone reports are built on the Qlikview application and requires six services to operate. Qlikview reads data from the Smartzone database using an SQL user and password that is not effected by changing the Qlikview services user.

 

Purpose

This document will show you how to change the password for all the Qlikview service accounts.

 

Requirements

Remote desktop admin access to the server.

 

Procedure

If you have a domain service account please skip to the step stopping the services once you have obtained a new password.

  1. Click the Windows start menu and type “lusrmgr.msc”
  2. Right click on the Smartzone service account and select “Set Password”

  1. Set a new password and when complete close the “lusrmgr.msc” window.
  2. Click the Windows start menu and type “Services.msc”
  3. Find and stop the six Qlikview services.

  1. Right click on any of the service an click on properties.
  2. Select the “Log On” tab and enter the new password then click “OK”. Repeat this step for the other services.
  3. Right Click on “Qlikview Server” service and click start. Repeat for the other services.
  4. Open Smartzone in your web browser and check you can open the reports. The initial load will take longer than normal as the data need to load into the Report server memory.

Troubleshooting

If services fails to start.

Check you have input the correct password for the service. This issue can be checked by looking at the Windows application event log.

 

If a Service starts but then stop

If the password is correct open the Qlikview Management Console (QMC) and check the top of the screen for notifications. It could be the Qlikview license has expired so you will need to update it before you can use Qlikview report.   

 

If the reports do not open in Smartzone.

Check the user that is configured in the “Admin>System Configuration>Interfacing Servers>Reporting And Dashboard Services” If the user is the same as the services user you will need to update the password.
