Troubleshooting: Newly Registered RFID Cards Won’t Unlock iHandle
Contents (Heading 2 Arial 28pts Bold)
Introduction
This article provides troubleshooting guidance for situations where newly registered RFID cards fail to unlock a Panduit G5 PDU iHandle.
Purpose
The purpose of this article is to address an issue affecting Panduit G5 PDUs running firmware version 3.3.2, where newly registered RFID cards fail to unlock the iHandle. This problem occurs because, upon the initial tap of the RFID card, the system logs an incorrect card number in the Event Log. As a result, the card is registered with invalid credentials and will not authenticate properly during future use.
Requirements
- RFID Cards that are compatible to G5 iHandles (ACF05 and ACF06)
- Access to G5 Web Graphical User Interface (GUI) with Administrator Privileges
- Firmware 3.3.6 image
Procedure
1. Update the G5 PDU firmware from 3.3.2 to 3.3.6 via web GUI or GUT Tool.
Note: This does not have an impact on the outlet state.
2. Delete the previously registered RFID on 3.3.2 firmware.
3. Register the RFID again. Determine the new card ID by tapping the physical RFID on the reader.
4. On the web GUI under Event Logs, look for the most recent message about an unauthorized swiped card and you’ll see that it will show a different card number for the same physical RFID card than the previous on 3.3.2.
5. You can now use this card number to register the RFID card by adding the card/user on the Local Rack Access.
