Introduction

This document outlines the instructions on how to configure Redundant Network Access (RNA) Functionality for G6 Power Distribution Unit (PDU).

Purpose

RNA allows secure access of PDU data and statistics on two separate, private networks. RNA must be used with a redundant power delivery design including two rack PDUs for each IT rack. PDUs used in RNA applications must be the same SKU/Part Number. A maximum of (2) PDUs can be used in the RNA convention.

Requirements

  • Two (2) G6 PDUs with firmware version 5.2.5 and same part/SKU number.
  • Three (3) known working Ethernet cables
  • Administrator access to G6 PDU command line interface (CLI).
  • Physical access to the two G6 PDUs at the time of configuration.

Procedure

1. Using the two ethernet cables, physically connect the two PDUs on daisy chain and the PDU 1 will be connected to the network:

2. Configure the PDU in according to Quad-Network Interface (QNA) mode first, which is the default network setup for G6.

3. Log in to the CLI of the main PDU as an administrator.

4. Run the command ‘dev daisy rna’

5. The system requires a reboot for the changes to take effect. Input ‘Y’ to accept. Note: The message will prompt the PDU will reboot, but it is the last PDU in the change that will reboot.

6, After the reboot, log back in to the main PDU CLI and wait until both PDUs are part of the system again. This will take about 5-10 minutes. Alternatively, you can run ‘dev daisy’ command to see how many PDUs there are.

7. Once the PDU is back, run ‘dev daisy rna init’.

8. Now, connect one end of the third ethernet port to the ‘PDU Out’ port of the last PDU and when you connect the other end to another network, it will have two network IP addresses.

In RNA mode, the default account username is ‘landlord’ and password is ‘12345678’. This account is configured for proper access and control in RNA mode and must be used when logging in to the web GUI.
