How to enable Power Share on G6 PDU
Introduction
This document outlines the instructions on how to enable Power Share on G6 Power Distribution Unit (PDU) in the Web Graphical User Interface (GUI).
Purpose
Power Share is designed to allow for continual sensor monitoring and electronic rack access if one of the 2 power feeds is lost. This feature is available for vertical (0U) PDUs only. However, due to limited available power from the Panduit PDU Intelligent Network Controller (iNC), power share was designed and tested under the following conditions:
ACF05 or AC06 Electronic Security Handle, ACF10 (T+D), ACF11 (3T+D)
Care must be taken to not overload the system with accessories as this may cause instability or Power Share to become unavailable.
The PDU controller has a maximum output power capacity of 800mA @ 5V = 4 watts. Based on this, DO NOT deploy the Automatic Light Bar (PN: ACD01) when deploying solutions leveraging Power Share.
Requirements
- Administrator privileges log in to G6 PDU web console
- Known working ethernet cable
Procedure
1. Using an ethernet cable, connect one end to the ‘Ethernet/PDU In’ port of PDU#1 and the other end to the ‘PDU Out’ port of PDU#2 following this diagram:
2. Log in to PDU web GUI with administrator privileges
4. Under Power Share menu, click the pencil icon for the corresponding PDU.
5. When the Power Share dialog box appears, tick the ‘Power Share’ box to enable then click ‘Save’.
6. Do this for all the PDUs in the daisy chain system.
