5kVA-10kVA UPS EBP Not Being Recognized

Introduction

In some cases, the 5kVA units will not recognize additional EBP's connected to the system. This is due to the system not properly syncing. If the EBP is plugged in after the UPS is up and running, the EBP sometimes does not sync. Power cycling typically resolves the issue (for 5-10kVA Li UPS)

Purpose

This work instruction will help resolve the EBP's not being recognized by the UPS.

Procedure

  1. Make sure all connections are secure & proper connections made:
-- Power cable connected between UPS and EBP
-- EBP COM cable (RJ45) connected between COM port on EBP and COM port on UPS.
  2. "ADD" (address) switches all set to 0000 (down position).
  3. Power cycle the entire system once all connections verified:
-- e.g. Power off the mains input, and the EBP breaker so entire system is off.
-- Then turn ON the EBP breaker and then re-enable the mains.
  4. It should take a couple of minutes for the system to boot up and sync with the battery pack. (The LEDs should come on.

Troubleshooting

IF the EBP is plugged in after the UPS is up and running, the EBP sometimes doesn't sync. Power cycling typically fixes that. (for 5-10kVA Li UPS)

The EBP's should be connected as follows:

The first battery should be set to Address 0000. If there's a secondary battery, then it should be set to Address 0001. (There are DIP switches on the back of the unit to set these.)
On the UPS display, go to the Advanced Settings > Battery menu and set the battery group to '2', to signify that 2 EBPs are being used. If only one battery is used, only the one with Address 0000 would be used, and the battery group would be set to '1'.

After everything is connected, attempt a power cycle and let the full system reboot and sync with the batteries.
