How to to turn off blinking red status LED on G5 PDU intelligent network controller

Introduction
 

This document describes the process to turn off the blinking status Light Emitting Diode (LED) light via serial connection.

 


Purpose

Some racks with G5 Power Distribution Units (PDU) are not configured with valid Internet Protocol (IP) address and is isolated from the production network for monitoring and testing purposes so the status LED is flashing because of no network connection.

 

Requirements

  • Physical access to PDU
  • MA017 cable
  • Putty installed on client laptop
  • Cisco compatible console cable (USB to RJ45)

 

Procedure

1. Connect PDU to the client PC
    Connect the client PC to the Intelligent Network Controller (iNC) PDU In/Serial port using MA017 and Cisco console     cable: Client PC USB port --> Cisco compatible console cable --> MA017 cable --> NMC PDU In/Serial port

2. Logging in to the command line interface through Hyperterminal or Putty    
    Run Putty as an administrator.
    Set the COM settings to the following parameters:
        Baud rate: 115200
        Data bits: 8
        Parity: None
        Stop bits: 1
        Flow Control: None
    Initiate Serial Connection
    Input log in credentials (same as Web UI credentials)

3. Execute the command
    Run  dev statusled 1 off


4. Log out of the command line
    Type exit to log out and the terminal window will close
