Introduction

Integrated Door Module (IDM) is the sensor connection module which interfaces to the SmartZone EPA126 Gateway product.

Purpose

This guide is intended for upgrading or downgrading the firmware of the Integrated Door Module (IDM). Please be aware that this process has the potential for the IDM unit to become unresponsive and may require a replacement. This is a rare occurrence and can usually be resolved by a simple reset of the gateway unit.

Requirements

  • Panduit UTLTFTP Client Utility software tool

  • IDM Firmware file

  • Gateway Firmware should be running at a minimum revision of 2.06.06.

  • The tool and firmware mentioned are available from systemsupport@panduit.com on request.

Procedure

1. Ensure that BOTH Access Control (ACU) Interfaces are enabled
In order to upgrade the IDM unit firmware, BOTH ACU ports must be enabled in the gateway unit, even if only one IDM unit is connected.

2. Check the current firmware version of the IDM unit

  • Login to the gateway GUI as an Admin level user
  • Point a browser at http://IPofGateway/Config/Version.html where IPofGateway  is the physical IP address of the gateway unit.
  • This should display the following screen:
  • The highlighted portion shows the current firmware version of the IDM unit connected to this gateway. If you have an IDM on the front and rear doors of your cabinet, you should have a value in the other expansion port. If they are both at a lower revision than what you are planning to upgrade too they will both be upgraded during this process.

3. Perform the upgrade.

  • Run the UTLTFTP client and in the Download File Name section, hit the Browse and locate the required firmware file, (Note: change the  File of Type dropdown to All Files) the file should have a .idm filename extension. See next screenshot:
  • Select IDM Upgrade from the file transfer type drop down box.
  • Enter the IP address of the gateway which the IDMs are connected to, and then click download to device.
  • The process will take several minutes and will then reboot the gateway on completion.

4. Disable the unused ACU port if not used

  • If the additional ACU port has been enabled as outlined in point 1, then this should now be disabled once more.

5. Check the firmware version of the IDM unit

  • Use the procedure as outlined in in point 2 above.
